Installation of a Nokia 3285/ 5110/ 5120/ 5125/ 5160/ 5165/ 5170/ 5180/ 5185/ 5190/ 6110/ 6120/ 6160/ 6160i/ 6161/ 6162/ 6168/ 6170/ 6180/ 6185/ 6190/ 7160/ 7190 antenna is fairly simple, and only requires a Torx T-6 screwdriver. Just follow the instructions below: Important: These instructions are to guide you through the process and are to be used at your own risk. Do not poke at the circuit board! Do not have any other power source attached! A T-6 Torx Screwdriver bit will fit those tiny screws on the back of the cell phone to permit removal of the circuit board...
Remove battery. Remove the 4 screws with the Torx T-6 screwdriver.Turn the cellular phone so that the face is down. This ensures that the earpiece will not fall out of position! Carefully separate the faceplate from the base. Remove the 2 silver screws. Carefully separate the green circuit board and riser from the base of the phone. Remove gold screw. Separate the green circuit board from the backplate. Push the latch on the antenna while pulling antenna out. Push new antenna into housing with gold contact positioned on the circuit board as before. Be certain gold contact touches circuit board even if you need to bend the gold contact. This is the cause of “roam or no signal” problems!Notice on the new antenna that it has a plastic prong that locks it into place. Reassemble. Keep your factory antenna in case you need it for a warranty claim. Please Note:A Torx T-6 Screwdriver is needed to change the faceplate.
